Battery operation lets you control the suction, so that you maintain the suction or release it as needed. NasalClear operates on 2 AA batteries and includes 2 different tips to accommodate different shaped nostrils and a variety of congestion conditions. The tips are made of soft silicone, making them comfortable for children of all ages. Really? The product is that great? I’m reading these reviews and I would think that this was a portable carnival that goes up your childs nose and converts their snot into bubble gum. Unfortunately this is not the case.

We had a bulb syringe aspirator the hospital gave us and it worked great! it wasn’t intimidating and our kid would just kick back virtually un-phased. Well it ended up melting in our sanitizer so we had to toss it. I saw this product at our local Rite Aid and thought this would be perfect. The first couple times worked okay because he was under the impression it might be the bulb aspirators, cage-rattling second cousin. Then he got wise. As soon as he hears the snot pump kick up and move in toward his face, he freaks out turning his face to the side, crying out of fear. In order to extract some of the snot I have to hold his wiggling head still which can be somewhat problematic when his only intent is escape. Forget the little tunes because no variation of “mary had a little lamb” will quell a child in misery.

Not all bulb syringe aspirators are the same - some are more pliable than others. Most are just much too stiff to collapse properly. I found that Davon makes a good brand. I’ve also found aspirators that look identical to the Davon brand on this site. I’ve ordered one and it’s being delivered this week. Hopefully it’s functional and my son was able to purge the negative association of the Graco Aspirator. I’ll let you know how it goes…

Until then, try some less expensive options before going with the Graco.

Leighton is currently experiencing her second cold, which means that her nose has been runny for five of the last six weeks. It is oh-so-very annoying.

I stuck that saline spray thingy in Lei’s nose once and pulled the trigger - NO GOOD! I’m surprised we’re still on speaking terms. Her eyes got wide as saucers and she started screaming, gagging and choking. That was a ridiculous exercise - tantamount to baby waterboarding. If the CIA is banned in engaging from the activity, you probably shouldn’t try it on your kid.

After three weeks of constant nose wiping, restless sleep and chasing my little girl around with a blue boogie sucking bulb that didn’t actually relieve her of the aforementioned inconveniences, Ryan found the Graco Nasal Clear Nasal Aspirator at Walgreens. THIS THING IS AWESOME!

When I say thing I am referring to a battery-powered snot-sucker. It’s gentle, has two different-sized tips to ensure a good seal, plays music and is quite easy to clean. Plus, Leighton really doesn’t mind at all - probably because it’s kind of silly and she knows it makes her feel better.

I believe Ryan paid $27 for this fabulous little gadget at Walgreens in Lincoln Park, but I saw it on [...] for $19.99, and they offer free shipping and coupons for nearly every shopping experience. Plus, they ship fast and returns are free.

No matter how you slice it, I would pay $50 to replace my Graco Boogie Buster if I had to. I would pay far more if there was only one left on the planet and mine was lost or broken. I just can’t bear to live without it anymore. MOMS TO BE: Don’t forget to add this handy item to your registries!

I bought this for my granddaughter who has a bad cold. The cup that collects the mucus has two flimsy plastic pieces to hold it in place. One side broke almost immediately and we had to hold the cup in place while trying to suction the baby’s nose. Then the other side broke off and we can no longer hold the cup in place while trying to use the button to suction. What a piece of garbage. Don’t waste your money.

I got this product as one of the hundreds of gifts that people thought I could not live without. We were sent home the the hospital’s green one but I naturally assumed that this one would work better since it was electronic and obviously more expensive. First, my son HATES it and its nothing but a fight. Second, even if I get my child to sit still long enough, IT DOESN’T SUCK ANYTHING!!!!! It has virtually no power and no matter how much I used it in my son’s nose, it never got anything! I’m glad others seemed to have luck with this product but I certainly would not say it was worth the money. In fact, if anyone would like a free one, I will send you mine!

My 9 month old son is in day care so he has frequent colds that disturb his sleep. We thought this was a life saver after we used it for the first time - it got out so much more mucus than the regular bulb syringe. The next time we attempted to use it a couple of weeks later, the device lost its suctioning power. For the money, I expected to use it more than once. What a waste! I’m going to try the nosefrida instead.
