I started buying my baby stuff at 7 months.

start buying when she’s in her 2nd or 3rd trimester. The 2nd trimester might be the easiest time for your girlfriend because that’s when a woman feels most comfortable physically. Shopping can be a lot of walking for a woman in her 3rd trimester, carrying all that baby.

As soon as you find out the gender of the baby, which is in about 20 weeks, you can start buying things or when ever you wish to start. If you start now, purchase neutral color items…

Usually most people start buying baby stuff about 5 or 6 months into their pregnancy! That way they know if its a boy or girl. CONGRATS!

I started buying things at about 12 weeks. After 12 weeks the risk of miscarriage goes way down. Plus it is easier if you spread out the cost of things during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters rather than trying to scramble at the end and spend money in one big chunk.

Start little, and try ebay and consignment stores. Get yourself on a budget of say 20-50 dollars a paycheck.

Baby clothes aren’t worn out as quickly since the babies wear them for such a short amount of time.
Also picking up a few packages of diapers and then taping the receipt to them if you need to return them for a different size.

The only thing that you need ‘new’ is a carseat. We use a convertible carseat because it lasts MUCH longer than an infant carrier carseat with base.

I started when I was three months pregnant to pass the mark of high miscarriage. I would buy 3 bags of diapers every pay check in all sizes, 1, 1-2, 2-3. My daughter is 5 months today, and not once did I have to buy diapers or clothes yet or any other items. Stock up. Don’t buy to many clothes buy all different size sleepers. Don’t buy to many newborn stuff, they grow out of it quick.

I started buying things right away. I bought diapers, blankets, crib, etc.

I found out I was pregnant with my first when I was 8 weeks along. And I started buying items right away. :)

I would suggest waiting until after the 1st trimester (12 wks) to start buying anything!!!

start buying diapers now they cost alot .

I would start buying things along the way….although here are some hints:

1. Take it easy on the diapers. Buy a few packs, but not too many–you may prefer one brand over another. Plus, babies tend to change sizes (grow) pretty quick at first.

2. The same goes for clothes–in fact, I would find a friend/relate who has a baby about a year ahead of yours, that way you can use hand me downs for a majority of the baby clothes. Buy a few nice sets for going out on special occasions. Otherwise, your baby will grow out of a lot of clothes pretty quickly, and the clothes they can wear they will probably soil a lot (spit up, etc) anyways. No use spending a ton of money on that!

I actually waited on buying the big things until I had my baby shower and I knew what I needed then. I got a car seat, a crib and all that other big stuff from the shower….so in the end, I bought the fun stuff for my son, like a swing, some toys, and other stuff :)

Good luck!

As soon as you find out what the baby is.

I picked up small items in the beginning of my 4th month and then continued to add to the room as each month passed. I was pretty much through shopping by the 8mth, just in time for my baby shower :)

Whenever you want to.. gifts were bought for me when I was as early as 14 weeks.. we didn’t know the sex of the baby yet.. waiting until you know the sex is always best, about 20 weeks, because then you can start buying little clothes for a boy or a girl. I purchased my diaper bag when I was 24 weeks. Is she going to have a baby shower? She can start her online registry anytime and then go into the store later on, before her shower, to finish it up. Wait until after her shower to buy big items.. because she will get a lot of things at her shower.. then you buy what is left that she needs. Best Wishes!

You should wait and see what she gets at her baby shower and then go from there. That is what I did. Whatever she doesnt get at the shower, you can buy later.
