Where do I go while in Hong Kong on quick trip to explore baby product manufacturing opportunities?
I realize most manufacturing is done in mainland China, but I’m going to be in Hong Kong for 2 days and would love to know if there is a market or place where I might find multiple business people interested in looking for manufacturing opportunities. Additionally, I’d be open to looking at baby products that are already made that I can potentially sell in the US via my retail store. Any thoughts?
It is easy to get into Shenzhen from Hong Kong, which is real, mainland China. You can almost throw a rock across the water and hit it. I mean it, look on the map! ;-)
Shenzhen shouldn’t be overlooked. It is one of the top growth cities in China and its busiest port. The Futian district in Shenzhen has one of China’s two exchanges. Take the KCR train to Lo Wu. Check with your local Chines embassy/consulate regarding visa, there are special (easy) rules for ShenZhen district.
Yes, all the manufacturing is done in mainland China, Shenzhen is the nearest city to Hong Kong in mainland but if you don’t speak Mandarin or Cantonese I suggest that you shouldn’t go.
